The layout varies by cpu manufacturer (Intel/amd/via/sun) but.one large Ic is the controller chip, one is the cpu. The usually smaller chip is the cache. Basically it's a variance on the socket to slot (slocket) method in reverse. The layout looks like a slot 2/3 intel or a amd licensed Slot BIII Sun card. Only with pins instead of an edge connector. As for the materials. The older cpu cards often have a ceramic cpu (early Pentium m laptops and AMD Atholon laptops) where newer ones like the duron and intel core and atom, the acorn arm is etc use fibre fabrication. The one with the window is brown fibre.
Don't break down the card, the two large ics will go pinless and the rest will go standard ic chips. Unless you have a massive scale you won't recoup the differences in prices.
