If Boardsort wants to put out a statement regarding mercury relays that is different than what was discussed
here, I'll gladly adapt to their policy. Otherwise I'm sticking with Lostinlodos' advice regarding removal:

For tube style they usually have a quarter or half turn socket. Push down gently and try to turn it. Some are clockwise some counter-c.
Mercury is a neurotoxin. Impossible to clean up in quantity without experience, and causes toxic stains in organics and cloth. If you aren’t 100 percent sure you can remove it safely don’t try.
