When packaging and shipping server motherboards, would it be appropriate to snap or cut the board so it can fit in a smaller box?

You can cut them in half as long as you keep both sides together

This is allowed?? I was for some strange reason thinking that boards had to stay whole as much as possible...
Now i guess i can send in rest of my odd ball boards, ones that have been to large to fit previously... Glad i found this post.!

The primary thing is the keep them together part. Make sure they are in the same box ideally side by side.

Definitely keep the pieces together! Cause that's a gold cap chip board and if the pieces get separated, one looses a ton of value without that chip.

The gold cap is socketed. Pull it and weigh it. You may be better off with the gold cap gold leg (former 8086 class) for the chip.

Generally you should remove any ICs that are socketed. They are worth more as loose ICs even if it kills the board class.
The only time you need to weigh the differences is with telco, and gold cap chip board.
