walking over a 1$ to make a dime... old Compaq servers this age are wroth far more as even not working than as scrap.
Thanks for the education, but I didn't scrap a server. These boards were in a box of circuit boards that was given to me to send to Boardsort by the non-profit that I volunteer with. I will pass this info on to them.
I am just trying to learn what it is so I can maximize the return for the charities that we support.
understandable, my day job is at a nonprofit too and getting them to understand the value of old pc parts is easier said then done. there's a handful of people that will pay good money for 90s and older servers, check out around vcfed.org, vogogs.org or amibay. luckybob is one such person who buys the stuff. I'm also someone who would buy older high end servers/workstations from the mid/late 90s if their complete or close to it. do keep in mind finding the buyers can be hard as there's few of us around so it might sit for a while or not sell but when they do it tends to be far more then scrap price. i know I paid over 500$ for the ALR server I own over 5 years ago.
