Does BoardSort care if we send sorted items in the same category at the lowest value?

For example, I have a ton of motherboards. Can I sell all the motherboards at the lowest cost, even if higher grades are in the same box? So 150lbs of all motherboards at "Small Socket P4 Motherboard" even if there are better grades such as large socket, server, etc..?

I understand if not, we just have way too much stuff and not enough space to sort each type. I figure if BoardSort wants to make that profit so that we have an easier selling system, have at it. I can also understand if that makes their job harder so wanted to ask.

This would be similar for other categories' such as Periphal High Grade would include telecom boards.

If not, I will sell in bulk to the local yard just to avoid the sorting process haha. Thanks guys!!

No offense intended, but why are you even "scrapping" if not to make money or a profit? I cannot understand a willingness to sell unsorted items worth $8-10 per pound for fifty cents per pound that low grade brings. As for selling to the local scrap yard, you might get 3 to 5 cents per pound for a ten dollar board, or it might even have some of the $300 per pound CPU's, etc. I have bought "deals" from local companies who wanted the stuff gone, with no interest in the actual value, again, because it cost too much for their employees to process it, since to them it was make-work

We weren't really planning to make money on it. I run a 100% volunteer nonprofit which really just does technology support, education & device donations to seniors, veterans, etc..

Eventually we started taking electronic waste to help older folks out. Didn't really have the manpower or space to sort it all. We do now so we're sorting everything out now.

You can probably reference this post unless you've already heard back from lost or Boardsort: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20980

If Boardsort isn't interested in e-soup and you're open to sharing a general location, you might see if anyone here is close enough to you to pick up the material on a regular basis.

Some recycle to feel happy. I add to green house gases b driving my gas guzzler 22 miles away 6 times a year to recycle PS in various forms.
If you just want it gone, it makes sense.

Without a further direction, yes.
That’s exactly how they would proceed.
That is saying you still sorted the class wholes.
50 lbs of motherboards. 500 lbs of cell phones.
5 lbs of processors would be ICs. Etc.

Sending a mixed Gaylord will get you low class or lucky mid.

Ended up pursuing this as more of a business to fund other programs, so we rented an 800 sq/ft workshop. We're now sorting things!

We struggle a bit with telecom, but getting there. Can't tell if it's gonna be profitable enough, but hopefully.

Yes you absolutely want to sort. Don't aim for every little category though. Find the ones you have access to and stack those. Don't settle for low grade when you can get HGP or Telecom prices

Oh yeah absolutely. I didn't really see it as a business model before. I'm out in Maine, and there's no electronic recycling anywhere near where I'm at. 2 hours away both ways. We expanded, we're up to 35 Gaylords full to the brim and leased a 1200sq/ft building.

I have buckets for pretty much every category now. I still struggle with Telecom though. Chris has been pretty friendly. I hope everyone has a learning curve with this lol.
