Long time scrapper but new to boards. Im a gemcutter by trade but scrap and recycle as a stress reliever from the job. The only yard near me that takes boards only pays 2 cents a pound regardless of type! They only pay 25 a ton for shred! Im crying now over the boards I've chucked in over the years!!
After doing the math I come out better off filling a gaylord with low and midgrade boards and shipping LTL. Question can I mix low and mid grade together in a gaylord?

As of my knowledge, BS still wants them separated; even if the boards pay the same PP/lb.

What you can do is, uniform them in their own levels and mark them with some sort of spacer to clarify the difference or each level; or maybe stack side by side and spilt the two classes.

Chris got back to me with an email. I can go ahead and harvest them for aluminum copper and ic chips and mix them in a gaylord. With the 2 cents a pound they pay here if I find the right LTL shipper it just makes more sense to pile them up till I have a full box.

Do a search in the forum for gorven, he's a ltl broker that's helped me ship to Boardsort several times over the years

My grades are my own opinion and not an official grade from Boardsort

Thanks marked141. I haven't tried to get ahold of him yet but I found his contact info on here. Too bad boardsort doesn't have a western location! Maybe someday

Or a southern location! I would drive 4 hours to save money on shipping.

ropeman, only 4 hours? I drive 600 miles one way when I have a load. Of course at my age, I still think $3 an hour is getting overpaid for wages, and I sometimes forget that gasoline is more than 30 cents a gallon whien figuring the cost of delivery. But my low and midgrade pay the expenses of the trip, and I consider it a vacation/rock hunting adventure on the way home thru Kentucky with an empty van, where as it would be a 300 mile one way to go to Kentucky expressly for rock hunting.

Ropeman 1600 miles from me to boardsort! At some point I'm going to try and figure out if its feasible to ship low grade ltl. I am on the interstate system.

Negotiating with a small local yard to buy thier e-waste dont really have a buyer and they dont pay for it...trying to figure out a fair price per pound for mixed boxes of everything from flat screens to computers and switches of various sizes. If it works out might try and see if we can work a deal on shipping from the yard for low end scrap

I'm currently 15 hours/975 miles from drop off, but 4 hours would be about the most I want to drive.

Meowpher, it must be nice to be retired! I thought about visiting my son in St Louis on the way, but that makes it 21 hours to Boardsort.

I'm trying to talk my local yard into buying from me and sending to Boardsort! They have more storage than I do and they can load Gaylords and ship easier than I can. Only problem is that they don't know anything about e-scrap.

Ropeman same here. One bigger regional yard buys e-waste but they only pay 2 cents per pound doesn't matter if its boards or whole machines
