For me, scrapping is more than just money. Something I’ve touched on here and there and will go into some day soon.
But in scrapping my goal is a minimal 90% recycling or recovery. A goal low enough to always surpass.
Depending on age fan housings are PP, ABS, or PS more lately. Two of those can be recycled curb side or drop off in 98% of the country acd to earth911/iRecycle. ABS is still hovering at 50% consumer collection.
So I take the few extra moments to break the board, motor, and wire free. Because I can recycle it all.
If you’re willing to spend a few extra moments of your time you can find all sorts of awesomeness with the iRecycle app.
And in the coming days I’ll be posting a large update as to what has kept me busy these last 16 months or so.
I need to get into contact with a few users here over the next few weeks who have had their own recycling company ideas as well.
If it works this community will be the starting point for a major global change in recycling overall. If not it gets added to my list of grandiose ideas that failed.
But over all the idea is to make sure less goes to the landfills. Pop the motor out of you can. Recycle the case.
