just wondering...why is the 386/486 which is gold only on one side worth more than a double sided gold cap chip like the intel premium?

Without getting into chemistry. ...
The caps are gold plated. Not gold.
It's what's inside that counts most. 4004-i486 use a very different set of specs than say a gold cap Pentium even.
A Pentium pro is 1½ time the surface area in the cap but has 2x the ferrite in it.
Etc.
Looks: in tech, are deceiving
