HI,
I have a bunch of vintage avionics from 60-70-80s. In various stages of dismantleing.I was going to refine myself, but these chemicals are dangerous. So, I'll post some of what i have so you can let me know if your interested. As you know this stuff is plated much thicker than now adays.
couple pounds of these vintage cans and more if i keep removing them.

and so much more. how do we work with this stuff.

Pretty good chance Boardsort would accept the gold bearing items. They likely would need to scan it with the XRF gun to give you a custom payout. Can't speak to the whole units with little CRTs in them. They may or may not want those.

Everything except the rack is/was stuff boardsort would buy.
I would suggest calling and having the topic and post number so they can look at your photos directly.

The topic and post numbers are in the url

Before 11 and after 1
I’d skip Monday or Thursday.

If you don’t get through try again in an hour or two.

Don't be in a hurry to dispose of them. Remember back when these boards were fabricated, Gold was probably less than $60 qn ounce and silver was a couple dollars an ounce, so it was a low cost way to provide excellent quality connectors and hardware.
I see a fellow in my mirror who used to burn wire wrapped gold pin boards so he could sell the pins as brass for 30 cents per pound. That dude isn't much smarter now, but since he is older, he is moving slower, and sometimes takes time to consider other possibilities rather than grabbing a dime for a donut today.

i am 62 and health failing faster than it ought to.
before disasymboling, i could've sold on ebay for thousands. but i dont believe in making millionaires and billionaires any richer. and especially the top 3 stock holding companies. if you know, you know.
boardsort is close to the top (if not the top) paying owner/operator company out there. i just wish he'd respond if interested or not.

take this piece for example. here is what ai says.

Yes, there are multiple precious metals on this assembly, which is a spectacular example of a point-to-point wired vacuum tube (or hybrid) RF avionics chassis—likely a transceiver or tuner from the 1960s or 1970s.Because it was designed for aviation or military use, it heavily relies on high-grade metallurgy to maintain a steady signal under extreme vibration and temperature changes.1. Gold (Au)Tube / Component Sockets: Look closely at the circular sockets with white ceramic rings. The internal pin receptacles inside those sockets are heavily lined with high-purity gold plating to ensure a perfect connection with component legs.Internal Transistor Leads: The small metal-can transistors (TO-18 or TO-5 packages) nestled inside the individual silver shield pockets at the bottom feature gold-flashed leads.2. Silver (Ag)The Entire Metal Chassis: The heavy aluminum or steel frame is entirely plated in a bright silver layer (often passivated silver) to provide superior radiofrequency (RF) shielding and grounding.Silver-Plated Hookup Wire: The white, Teflon-insulated wiring running through the center of the chassis uses multi-strand, high-purity silver-plated copper wire.Mica Capacitors: The small, rectangular brown components (like the one near the upper left marked CM05) are silver-mica capacitors, which use a screen-printed layer of pure silver on mica sheets.3. Platinum-Group Metals & TantalumTantalum Capacitors: The large, metallic cylinders at the upper left (marked 100uF 20V) are high-reliability wet tantalum capacitors, containing a slug of pure sintered tantalum metal.Potentiometers: The adjustable tuning dials (the round white components at the bottom left) utilize palladium-silver or platinum-alloy wiper blades inside their housings.
