It goes back to plastic being a byproduct of the industry, if it was worth refining, they'd already do it instead of selling it.

If the oil wells all ran dry or became much more expensive to extract/refine then plastic recycling (in whatever form) might reach a point where it's viable from a business standpoint. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can't speak to all plastics but I can speak to "plastoline"... It will never be viable because the math doesn't work. It takes more energy input than you can get as output. It's a net negative no matter how you break it down.... but it looks great on insta I guess

if they brought back the stanley steamer car..., toss the plastic in the fire and let it boil water... pay no attention to that massive amount of pollution it makes.
