Hi, I have quite a few iPhone logic boards I'd like to sell. I watched the video boardsort has attached to the "Cell Phone Boards" grade, and It's noted that the metal shields must be removed. With these boards (along with many modern smartphone boards), they're soldered on and cannot be easily removed.

Would these be able to be sold as-is with the shields, or would they have to go as a lower grade? I'm not really looking to desolder them due to the amount of time required to process all these boards.

Must be removed for the full grade. There's multiple methods for removing that have been discussed. You can pry, up an edge after pushing in the side with a small flat head screwdriver or use a wire cutter or similar tool to crimp into a corner and pry up or some shields have holes that you can put something into and bend the shield until it breaks loose or you can get another tool into it.

Probably other methods too.

Just take care as you pull up to not pull up too much of the top layer of the board. A little is okay just don't want to knock off any of the goodies that are under the shield.

I use a small angle plier. Not the big angle plier. I peel a side up and then once the side is peeled a bit I grab the bigger set of angle pliers to finish the job.

If you use the bigger angle pliers on these smaller metal plates you will end up hurting your wrist or hand. I have carpal tunnel from 2+ decades of computer gaming. My left hand is not he best and will probably need surgery but I keep plugging along.
