This is the only mention I can find of things outside CD/DVD, going as such

CD Boards include a few outside things. Clearly cd, dvd, bluray.
Also most tape drive boards. Super floppy type (dozens or hundreds of megs).
Every post I've gone back through says those 3.5" floppy boards go (high) peripheral, almost entirely due to the pins being on them.
So maybe you're referring to super floppy? In which case I would love pictures so I can learn.
On the board here though you said it's 5.25" and based on what I found searching, CD/DVD is grading that too low.
i wouldn't recommend scraping a ls120 or 240 drive, aka super floppy for apple users. and no im not talking about those. I don't send all my floppy drives as cd drive boards only the higher yielding ones, some do have a handful of ICs on then
