Ended up with a starlink box in my last pickup. New thing for me! Shields are soldered on so I can't see what's underneath. Not sure where this would go being so new and unable to see under the hood.

Use a small sharp side cutter. Pinch the corner. Should be easy to work under and up. Lift off shielding. Even a razor knife. Place at base of shielding work the blade under. Being careful not to cut yourself or cut suddenly too deep. Causing broken blade. Then you can see. "Under the hood". Might be surprised. Disappointed or pleased. If you do remove the shielding. A follow up picture would serve the forum members well. As well as an evaluation.

If you have the means to, you might consider heating the metal to a point where you can just pull them off when the solder melts. Only reason I suggest that is so you don't pull anything up or knock anything off trying to cut and pry. Since you're the first person (that I'm aware of) sharing Starlink pics here, that could help the community know exactly what's there.

Just a thought ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like this idea. I can use my micro torch I use for my gemcutting. I already tried my usual methods for removing stubborn shielding and only ended up with the dented one in the corner on the pic.

Had to use a combo of all my methods to get shielding off. Lost a few small mlcc type components and one tiny chip. Seems to mostly be bga and flat packs under the shielding. Board is also very thin similar to a llalptop board

High peripheral seems right, doesn't look like they used any gold on the board (except if individual components contain it) and based on the corner damage that was already there in the first picture I assumed it was thinner.

Were the shields steel or something else? Are the little antennae(?) steel?
