Processing HDD's and found some of the windings on the read head appear to be plated in gold. If so, what category to I put the winding?

I doubt the windings that sit between the magnets have any gold plating. I've never seen anyone mention that here. Do check if it's aluminum or copper as both are common.

The actual read/write heads contain a small amount of rhodium, which is still fairly high price wise but not near as high as several years ago when there was a scarcity fear.

If it’s actually gold colour it’s a heavy nickel brass.
Some aluminium alloys also create a yellowish colour.

Boardsort is not interested in the heads.
There’s interest in the small batch refining market but that’s outside the scope of forum here.
