When I was coin hunting (gave up on that about 5 years ago) I learned the hard way that there simply weren't any bank based coin counters in my area, even opened an account with TD to learn "we don't do that anymore"

Spent a year handrolling about $50 a day in pennies, sold a couple sacks of copper, but by the next year, it's presence in circulation went from approx24% to abt 10%, got bored, never found silver often enough to keep buying boxes of other denoms, nickels were fun, and the most reliable silver

Well I tried to reply and my phone signal decided to go out... So... paraphrasing:

My bank has a great coin machine that is fast and spits out irregular coins, I could bring unsearched bags of coins in and just ask for the kickouts back :D

And I get the cost effectiveness issue with refining gold and silver, but I think the educational experience was beneficial and I got some cool silver shot out of it

Kool. Load it into a buck cartridge and you have werewolf protection!
No I get it. It’s really a fun thing to try. And highly educational. Reverse electroplating is even more fun (and more dangers) since you can watch it actually happen.
Moose (one of the few “refiners” who tells it like it it) has a video where he deplates silver.

Yup! I was having difficulty getting a clean pour into a mold so I just grabbed a large bucket and cold water (not so cold afterward).

Lol, that wasn't my first idea but nice to know I have options.

Checked on using the coin machine at local
Supermarket and at Walmart. Supermarket wanted initial fee plus ten percent. Walmart wanted 12.5 percent.

Like coinstar machine or the store themselves?

I have one bank local with a nice coin machine that runs them pretty quickly still. I'm usually searching half dollars but recently started getting other denominations too. Found a 1/10 Oz silver round in a roll of pennies.

As long as I’m here let me reiterate reverse electroplating.
Picking up non-ebay fashion jewellery auctions is the way to go. Few months back o bought 100lbs of fashion for $100.
Got half an ounce of gold a a few ounces silver.
Almost 70 pounds stainless and a dozen lb so lbs of brass and bronze

The down side is you need a reliable scrap or jewellery buyer that takes on raw junk,
That has an xrf gun, and will bore and acid test both.

Never sell anything to a cash for gold establishment and remember that most pawn shoppes are scams.

If your in the greater Chicago area I can point you to buyers within 4 hours.
