Lostinlodos, I think you have a book just waiting to be written about the convoluted birth of the e-information-tech revolution. Just make sure it has plenty of footnotes for those of us who aren't familiar with the LAN and DIMM and Sim.

LAN = local area network
DIMM = dual inline memory module
Sim~ = small tan and yellow looking people in the sim(ulation) series of games.
~As simulated people they have fights, make love, do potty and basically waste their lives as you make them do all sorts of stupid things. Many find the games enjoyable though so check them out.
(1) Today they’re far more realistic than the first games.

I was just picking on the historic joke of moral crusading against games. Doom was satanic because you killed demons and stopped hell from taking over.
Sims was a response to fake lives of characters. They’re not real. Etc. So they make a game that simulates life and then people complain that the little people on the screen use the toilet! Poor game companies, yelled at by someone no matter what.
But we’re /way/ off the original topic now.

Mac: push button. Wait a few minutes. Use the desktop.

Windows: push button. Wait. Type windows or win.exe or win. Wait. Click a dozen ok/cancel boxes for incompatibility issues. Wait. Use some of the system till it crashes.

Cp/m: push button. Wait. Type dirshell (if you installed it). Wait. Navigate to folder. Slowly. Click on app. Tap enter or F8. Wait. Use app till it crashed.

Etc.
