Not sure of correct terminology, but what appears at first glance to be backplanes are actually gold pins inserted into thick boards. (click on a spot on the photo to enlarge for detailed view. Click again to further enlarge)

Backplane

It’s a server backplane. Just a different (older) board design method vs modern.
