What if one gets accidentally comes off while removing a heat sink or something like that? Can we just tape it to the board or is it automatically downgrade it to mid grade even though it has possibly many other valuable chips on it?

No: the rare accidental loss of a single component is not going to downgrade you.

Picture front and back side of each item, make it clear and visible, and tell us where it came from or off what. If you know, tell us what is missing and what you pulled off to help determine the class.
More than likely you'll be e-mailing Boardsort directly , since they are ultimately the deciding answer.

That's an absolute waste of everyone's time, especially if someone is not selling boards in bulk. If they are, then that suggestion would be practically impossible to follow anyway. Please picture actually spending all of that time documenting that info when, as you wrote,

Most depopulated items or materials removed from boards are auto classed as low/midgrade, being the unknown of what or how much was pulled off the PCB.

Boardsort is expert enough to know what they've got with a glance, I'm certain of it. If that isn't the case, something's wrong there. I'm very much hoping *the immediately gimped* FRED tool eliminates this section entirely.

That’s the whole point of the what is it identification forum.
Experienced users that have been selling to BoardSort for some time, in some cases 10 years or more, can pick out 99% of the questioned boards far faster than waiting around for someone from the company to get back to you. Everyone here is trying to learn or trying to help, usually both.
FRED is a helpful tool, but should be your second step after coming here and asking.

The general discussion section? Ouch…
(I know what you meant just being me).
