These four small boards with heatsinks are soldered through the motherboard.
The heatsinks are screwed to the small boards and soldered in two spots on the motherboard. They could be removed without any damage to the small boards and very little damage to the motherboard.
I am going to remove the heatsinks and leave the small boards on the motherboard. But, I am curious as to the small boards function.
When someone has some time, please comment as to that function.
