I've heard of the legendary air card, could this be it? Or is it just a peripheral board with a gold finger card attached?

We've all heard of the air card and if there was ever a card to fit it.
Left card
In all honesty id bag it separate and put in my cell board box. And see what happens.
Just include a notice in your quote and in the box.
One on the right is probably peripheral.

There's a lot of metal shielding on the other side, do I take it off first?

Anything that can come off easily should be removed . You can always post another pic of the back for further review.
