Hello all!
Happy almost New Year!
It's my goal to finally get rid of all my e-scrap - the task now is sorting.
I am trying to figure out what the differences are between the Finger Board classes. I have a ton, some are Server, some desktop, some industrial. What decides between finger board and high-grade peripheral?
The video for finger and low grade finger are the same - pic attached of some examples I have.

Briefly. The Gold Finger Card video you viewed covers every category Boardsort accepts. The video was posted in each category. Efficient. Effective. Also. Everything shown are basic computer boards. But as you have in your photos. Boards with gold fingers that don't "fit" the videos. Grading your boards is all about value. What real escrap value are in your boards? My suggestion. Go to the E-Scrap Forum General Discussion. View the post. Explanation of different board sort categories. Read it all. It can give you a good start to escrap. Sort of. Kind of. ESCRAP 101. (So lostinlodos when do entry level escrap classes start? Just a jag shas595. Please ignore my comment. A fully comprehensive escrap book isn't on market. So far as my searches show. But. Its got to be coming). Enough said. Here are my evaluations. And mind you. I am relatively new at this escrap. Photo 1,2,3 will go Gold Finger Card. That being a clean card. PCB 4 Low Peripheral. PCB 5. Backplane. Yes. Gold finger and slots. But looks like two slots have no gold contacts. Thats a trade off on value. Again. I am new at this. I will be watching this post to see if an experienced escrapper posts also.
Here to learn like everybody else.

1, that Dallas labeled IC is interesting, usually that means it's a battery but the packaging doesn't look typical for that. Looking up the numbers online it suggests there's a lithium cell... So...unless anyone can confirm that's not a battery you'd need to remove it. (looking again, it may be socketed on, if so just remove it to be safe). I'm thinking this is close to high telco but the IC population may not be enough. I hesitate to call it a clean GFC because it is not a PCI type card but I think this might be safe in that category.

2, the tv tuner box should probably come off if you want clean GFC, the amount of steel there is probably at least 3x as much as a bracket. If you removed just the cap you could probably get away with GFC with bracket.

3, should be okay as clean GFC

5, looks like a backplane to me, but...there's a lot of gold fingers and whatever is going on with all the circles. This might be worth emailing Chris to verify a grade.

4, there's got to be something on the other side of that? Probably not GFC but not sure where to go with it if there's other components on the other side.
