vintage avionics generally solder both sides with hi-temp hi-silver solder. the boards tend to burn before solder melts. what is the magic to remove chips. not HCL. prefer to not damage or shorten legs.

As far as scrap, expect the chips to get a downgrade if there's solder on the legs. I do not know what they would go down to, just don't expect gold cap gold leg IC.

sorry. i would call balony. solder is removed in refining process. been there done that.
any downgrade would be disingenuous.
say 1/8'' thru board and backside x 40 pins is about 5'' longer, with thicker than normal gold plating. total 15'' on white chips and 7'' on purple. tiny weight, but adds up for already light weight chips. am i wrong. might pay big, but such light weight. AND vintage avionics solder, more silver balance solder weight. am i wrong?
just sayin....

my conclusion is top high paid boards. this being a sample of the boards i have. and a sample of ceramic ic's of the era. i busted them open to reveal precious metals in every one. zoom in and look. pretty golden tiddies to me.

ANYONE HEARD FROM BOARDSORT/CHRIS YET

Askin for a friend....

I'm simply relaying the information that has been provided in the past regarding solder on pins/legs. Chris and his team are ultimately the ones who make the call though.

Chris has responded in two parts of the forum now. I was able to connect with another person within the company and relay our concern for his wellbeing as well as a number of us being unable to reach him.

i understand the solder story, hense, reality is a higher class of board when containing such chips. if i ever get thru to chris, i could ask. these vintage avionics wernt meant to come apart at 30,000 feet nor here on the ground. each hole is lined w/copper connecting top to bottom and often kink in the legs making them almost impossible to remove. i went toe to toe debunking every way ai said to remove until it gave up. only full board to refiner made any sense.

also,
read my post; Post subject: Chris is alive and well

carry on!
