Is this going to be making it's way back onto the site? IMO, even if it is only 70-80% accurate, that is WAY better than me guessing at most of this...

Don't know why it has been removed (unless to reprogram the 20x/day to unlimited), but please bring it back.

Thanks

Google lense has helped me with "the guessing at most of this".... I had and have had mystery PCBs. Google lense can tell you what a board is. Where it came from. Show you listings etc. That can get you on the right track to at least getting it into a category. Then in conjunction with the Boardsort escrap price list pictures and videos. At least you got some help. Also. Use Google search. Look closely at the PCB. The manufacturer name and model number and serial number can be on there. By entering the manufacturer name followed by the model number. Sometimes you can get a hit on Google. It's a lot of leg work. But it can help keep you going.
I have done this many times and got mixed results. But often 100% hits often enough to mention it. I also am missing O.S.C.A.R.
Here to learn like everybody else.

Thanks for the suggestion of Google Lens. I'll give that a go and also look into Gemini on my cellphone, guess I need to start learning that AI stuff sooner or later!

Yeah, why wait for this site's program to get up and running (again?) when you can have Google watching what you're looking at even more so than they already are. I would not take that lightly.

I do hope that OSCAR comes back sooner rather than later. It was super convenient to use as a way to double check my grading. Google lens is great for some things but not grading in my opinion.

drsung. Google lense does not grade. Though it can be a help from the perspective that it can identify an unknown board. A mystery board. If you will. It can identify it as a hard drive board. A CD board. For example. Or another board. That alone can at least give you direction towards the Boardsort escrap price list to put it in a category.
That's why I responded to this post. Just so one can at least have something to continue on some type of identifying escrap.
Here to learn like everybody else.

Yes. Temple of Set. I agree. I am not skeptical or unaware of the ability and scope of information gathering AI can. And. Will do. It's a fact. Do you know? Can you verify? That O.S.C.A.R. In it's programmed search. Doesn't inspect every available website for an evaluation. Ok. Having said that. What can we do? Your suggestion of expanded pictures to help grade is respectable. But. Is that enough for quick and accurate evaluations? I say that confidently in the reality of millions and millions of PCB's through the years and upon years of manufacturing. Note: Boardsort accepts all. So. Where does that leave Boardsort attempting a computer program to help escrappers evaluate a photograph of a PCB or component? It is only common sense. They use AI. I actually side with your remark about AI that is taking notes on our activity. So frustrating. I have actually did an off beat experiment where I personally searched uninterested searches on google etc. Searches of no interest to me at all over my life time of internet. I never would have ever searched. Wouldn't you know it. Within 1 to 3 days. I get advertisements and videos concerning the search of those parameters. So. I confirmed some stuff there. Hah. So annoying. Again. I agree. AI catalogues us. But. What can we do? Embrace the new technology. Or run from it? I use Amazon for purchases. I heard AI is used to evaluate your feedback. And. After a decision. No recourse. You can call Amazon. Get a live operator. And they will not override that AI decision. I can hear you Temple of Set. I can reasonable read between the lines. Yes. I do NOT take your statement lightly. Yet. We got to "live for today". I will say this also. I went to my eye doctor many many years ago to get refitted for eyeglasses. He gave me a form to fill out. A short questionaire. I asked him. What is this? His response. Patriot Act requirement. Yepper. Temple of Set. And I will stop there with this. Again. What can we do?
