Looking for some help with these...

These are some things I have that I have questions on.

The storage controller is a card out of a Dell storage enclosure.

The dictaphone board is from a voice recorder.

The small backplane ones are from servers and PCs. They all have gold pin connectors on them.

The AP board is has antennas on is that I can clip off.

The RF card has some bigger RF connectors and seems to have a bunch of gold plating on the rings where it screws to the enclosure.

The IBM motherboard has a lot of gold pins on it.

Does the backplane with finger go as a gold finger card?

Do all the gold pins on the backplanes make it any more valuable than just a backplane?

Here is my take on what you have:

Dell storage controller and RAID controller: peripheral
Router card: telecom
Dictaphone board: peripheral
small backplanes: peripheral grade, because these appear to come from port replicators or docking stations.
access point: peripheral, remove metal shielding on right side of board.
RF card: Appears to be low grade, but is the back side metal plating or a brown board. If metal plating, I would send in for assessment by boardsort to determine a grade.
ISA and SCSI cards: Telecom, due to the IC population. Telecom pays more than gold fingered cards
Memory board: backplane
IBM motherboard: small socket motherboard. Remove the heatsinks.
CPU card: small socket motherboard. Remove heatsinks from board.
backplane with fingers: gold fingered card. Remove the heatsink.
Pins on backplane: If this is a closeup of a board you have already posted on this thread, then these will be disregarded. If there isn't a photo of the entire board posted, then we will need to see the entire board to accurately grade it.

My reasoning for removing the heatsinks is because I have read that there may be an increase in demand for aluminum by auto manufacturers (most notably Ford) for use in making aluminum bodies on cars and trucks. Scrappers may profit more by hoarding as much aluminum as they can, then sell it off at a later time as the demand rises.

It's looking like peripheral grade is prob not worth the cost of shipping in.

On the AP, I wonder if I can take the flatpack off and just send that in? Do you know what those go for? I remember seeing talk of them on here a few times but had no luck searching for. I have ~20 of those.

I will throw the RF card in with my shipment. It's metal on the back side. It looks like copper but I'm not sure. I think it's tough to tell in my pic but the board appears to have gold plating in numerous places and the big RF connectors appear to be gold plated. I have ~20 of those as well.

The IBM motherboard has a whole lot of gold pins for connecting boards. I was hoping they would be worth more but they don't yield much gold?

I will remove the heatsink on the backplane with finger.

The pins I showed the close up of was on "Another backplane" I should have pointed that out. I was just curious on those if they yield much gold and add any value?

Good point on the aluminum. I have a couple hundred pounds that I might wait to get rid of. In some cases though wouldn't I be better off selling it with a board? If I have a MB that goes for $2.35/lb or even $1.50 locally wouldn't I be better off leaving heatsink on and getting the $1.50/lb? Unless it's possible Al could go to that price.

The plating on many gold connectors and gold fingers is very thin. Mike the Scrapper did a video a few months ago to show the process of refining the pins off 50 green fiber CPU chips with no metal. From those 50 chips, he got three ounces of pins, and when he was done refining, he had a small bead of gold that at the time was valued at $20. With your boards, recovering the pins will involve some work in removing the socket and collecting all the gold plated pins and other gold plated contacts without introducing foreign contaminents into the collection for refining.

As for your flatpacks, they will be bought as green fiber without metal CPU chips. They must have the gold plating on one corner to receive this grade, otherwise they will be downgraded to IC chips, which have a much lower payout.

For some motherboards, you can leave the small aluminum heatsinks on, but I always remove the ones on mine so I can sell the boards as "clean" as possible.
