Picked up a 650 pound load today. All telecommunications equipment. Not only did I get my first gold cap i got lots of them! A handful of boards unfortunately have mercury on them but they're grouped together so I can salvage most of the good stuff and take the mercury bearing sections to hazmat. I can't wait to tear into this stuff!

I'm not sure if the silver caps with gold edging will be gold cap or not. Lost typically checks topics in this section of the forum so hopefully he'll provide some input.

The chip with adhesive or thermal paste, can't tell for sure that's a good call from the picture.

The one with some kind of metal latch (???) sitting around the cap, can't really tell much about that one either.

Removing soldered gold cap chips in the past, due to the solder on the gold pins, is usually cautioned against. Socketed you can at least remove, weigh and put back if the payout is better.

Mercury? Mind taking a picture if you have them handy for reference? There's other examples posted but more wouldn't hurt.

Added a close up of the mercury boxes. They're in banks so I can cut the board far from them. Added a few more of the gold cap chip boards ive been finding too

File comment: Mercury. Luckily they're all in bank rows o I can cut the safe good portions of the board without disturbing them

Those are definitely mercury. Thanks.

The double board, top you can probably pull one gold cap and leave the other to retain gold cap chip board. The bottom, I assume the power box is pretty heavy, you probably need to remove it for the board to go GCCB, Boardsort maybe takes it high Telco if it stays. Of course remove the metal housing/faceplates.

The single board of course is GCCB.

I’ll look at the boards in a few days I’m travelling
Just bump this Wednesday

But to say this immediately
Do NOT remove soldered gold cap chips. You toss all your cash that way! They go as SUN chips. The boards become high peripheral or worse.
