To pull off Laptop MB or not to pull. Do I remove it and sell it for $4.00/lb, OR do I leave it on the MB and sell for $4.50/lb?
Normally it is more profitable to pull the cpu and sell it seprately but this type is undervalued when it is on a laptop MB.

If it is soldered to the board leave or you will severely down grade the board.
If its socketed or has screws securing it to board (removable or replaceable) pull it.

I am totally aware of if it is not soldered in remove it and I usually do.
But in this case it would pay to leave the cpu attached to the MB.

I ask this question because I have about 50 of these laptops to dismantle and at that point I am loosing money on taking the cpu off because of the pricing. Leaving it on the board is $.50 a pound more for the cpu in the overall price. Or should I pull it off and toss it in with the High Garde Telcom?

Theoretically you should be able to leave an apple cpu on the board since they weigh practically nothing for a single cpu on a single board.
But more than a handful… I’ve sent this to Chris.

Grading is often a subjective thing.

In order to sell this as a Telecom board, particularly when there are several of them, you will need to clean them up a bit. No coils and the metal must be minimal. When I look at this as a telecom board the first thing that strikes me is the metal around the connectors. I would be more comfortable grading this as Telecom if it were in better shape metal wise.

In this case, remove the coil and the 2 larger connector covers and leave the CPU for the increased grade. Perhaps do a test and make sure your time and weight loss don't negate your efforts.

Please allow me to clarify that I am not referring to the entire MB as being telcom I am Just looking at the payout rate for the cpu in the upper pic to the right. It seems this type is undervalued based on the qualifications to be high grade telcom which is valued at about 40% more.

The Apple CPU is a variation of the Slot design replacing the cartridge edge with pins,
However it is considerably lacking in controllers found on slot processors.
The CPU is, itself, only a partial implementation. What’s called a soft processor.
Much like the WinChip5 series, and the celeron.
Much of the standard function done in software and thus the paths are reduced, lowering the chip value.
The “bridge” chip controller, here a 400 series, is also a reduced spec. Depending on the rom host.
Combined it results in a lower value (lower cost) card.

Unfortunately the recovery value of this design is fairly low and well known.
Hence the lower price.
