Again. Spence1015. What are your comments on a gold covered transistor like I have pictured. I got a few of these. Maybe take the paint off with xylene.

These have their own unlisted class. You need to contact Chris to find out where to put it.

Contacted Chris. On transistors I posted here. No category given to me. But. He gave me price per pound. Different price on the 2 posted. Guess. Just send in a hand written invoice on contents. Inform sorter to referr to email quote.

Thanks. Lost. Just trying to get the ball rolling.

Did Chris give you a category? How did you send them in?

I sent them in just like that in that box packed well with other quoted material. It was given a custom price that I'm not sure I could find right away, if at all.

I use the Boardsort Sell Scrap. Invoice form. It's convenient. Fill in the blanks for each category. Automatically calculates payout amount. Then click on print. You have a comprehensive listing of everything you are sending. Put that in the box you are mailing. Done deal. Everything is accounted for in the box. Which Chris wants to see. So. Without a category. I am sending in a "random" escrap box.

When I stated hidden category, I meant that Chris had a specific way of dealing with that specific item that is not part of the general quoting process.

I’ve sent these in myself as well in the past
Just shot boardsort an email in notification that I was including extra items not on the list. I boxed those items separately and included information inside that separate box and place that box in the primary shipping box.

The basic key is to make sure they know you’re including something that’s not on the list ahead of time

The price list is basically all the well known values of the most common things Boardsort deals with. When we find uncommon items sometimes Chris or the community here can take an educated guess as to the value and get the item to fit into the price list. The rest of the time Chris and the Boardsort team more than likely need to have their hands on the thing to assess it, especially if the xrf gun is needed to determine the actual amount of gold and other metals.

I did find my quote; those particular transistors were $16/lb in 2022.

There was a unique gold plated heatsink I got $8/lb for also.

Marked141. My quote on the gold plated To-3 transistors. Power transistors. Was 20 dollars a pound. Well. We can forget that as of 3-19-2026. No problem. Everybody cashed in to get the high price. CME corrections and manipulations and "what not"? And the rest of the global market ramifications. So. The investors raced to grab profits. Crashed the price. Nothing new. Statistics. Over long term. Escrap will rise. I feel 1 year. I will get a better price than quoted. I am here thanking God I didn't send in my 486 CPUS. But. Thats another story.
