I've got an opportunity with a small local yard to buy several gaylords full of scrap. It's a mix of everything from flatscreens to computers, switches, servers, docking stations, laptops, exct. Trying to figure out a fair price for it all as they would sell it by weight. There's definetly some nice stuff in it that I could see but also some smashed flatscreens and the like. Any suggestions on a price I should try and pay?

Took a load of aluminum, prepared iron, and copper bearing motors in and the yard owner offered it up at 15 cents a pound! Couldn't say no to that! 850 pounds came home with me today and still need to go pick up a second load tomorrow.

Inkjet printers tend to be a waste of time. but other kinds of printers and everything else in that load looks to be useful.

Picked up another 600 pounds today. Other than some power supplies and 2 smashed flat screens everything should have good value. Probably close to 400 of those Aruba wifi access points. About 1450 pounds for the total haul at 15 cents a pound!

1600 miles sad face but no where near me pays more than shred. I think I'm going to use usps ground advantage cubic with pirateship to ship it out. Bit more work but if I get each cube close to 20 pounds packing stacks of I-series boards with ram or telecom in each box I get shipping cost down to under a dollar a pound.

Hey Lost have a question for you on the cubic? If I'm sending 3 or 4 boxes at a time I'm going to want to get as close as I can to maxing out the wiegh limit. Going to stack low value motherboard and then fill the remaining space with wrapped or boxed other items. So 4 boxes would have a stack of say I-series motherboards and a pack of ram or telecom to bring up the total value.

If I put a copy of the invoice in each box and then highlighted or hand wrote the total weigh of each item category in the box on that boxes invoice would that be sufficient or do I need to do a separate sell invoice for each box?

just include the invoice copy with each box and you’ll be fine. You don’t have to do separate invoices.
just make sure you email Chris with all of the tracking numbers to keep the order together

When I ship gaylords I usually have multiple boxes in boxes or barrels and I label everything and create a packing slip with like:
pallet 1 contains: boxes A-C Weight
>box A contains: boxes 1-3 Weight
>>box 1 Material Weight
>>etc etc...

That may not be strictly necessary but hopefully it helps whoever is working through my material to find everything quickly.
