This post should be entitled #!)*$% Donald Trump. I went to my local post office with a box and they wouldn't take it. They said I needed a customs QR code from a 3rd party. I'm glad I didn't send it because I later read that they introduced a 50% tarriff on top of that. I'm wondering if scrap ram/cpu is tarriffed and is shipping to the US still possible and worthwhile ?

Thanks
Cutter

Can't disagree with that opening, I'm sorry the world has to deal with us right now D:

Not sure what the current tariffs are and what they apply to but it wouldn't be you paying, it would presumably be Boardsort. Hopefully someone with more international shipping experience can chime in.

That is what I thought at first but after getting home and looking deeper I found that the tarriff has to be paid up front by me. That's where the app and qr code come in. Not only is this unreasonable but it has effectively killed shipping for any older people.

After that I called fedex, they said their store is empty and down to 1 staff. I'm barely a couple of hundred miles away and do you know what the fees were ? It was $70 for ground, used to be $20 and I have to find a 3rd party brokerage. and $370 for express. It's a joke, shipping between Canada and the US is effectively over.

Boardsort doesn’t pay fees on shipping. If it arrives with any postage, duty, tariffs, etc, due, it will be refused. (A mess for you, it may not come back, you may have new fees for coming back over the border again, and you may be legally responsible to pay for the return)

That’s why they warn you not to ship internationally.

I’ve mentioned elsewhere before there is a way to do it but it’s only for experienced shippers and you need an expensive enough shipment to offset the fees.
It’s generally not a good idea at the moment.
