I am prepping a very large shipment of lower value motherboards and have run into a conundrum. I have a number of motherboards from workstations and specialized networking equipment that had Xeon processors. They look more like I-series boards as far as the quality and density of chips, but they do have the candy cane lever and a lot more gold plated slots (ram etc). In the spirit of the category and based on Chris' videos explaining why I-series are lower value, I was about to toss them in I-series but, there are two posts in the "what is it" forum regarding this and the responants concluded that they are the higher value non-Iseries metal socket, but also noted that the same motherboard can have an I-series or Xeon series socket, and indeed I have seen this. I am not interested in cheating or sneaking something through, but also want to get highest value, so my Question:

Do we have a firm opinion on what category for Xeon socket Mobos go?

Pictures? if you want to be certain.

Xeon are not I series CPUS.
Xeon as you've pointed out tend to be on higher end systems with more gold.
Candy cane lever on them?

All this sounds like metal socket not I series to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

xeon mothers board can go in almost any board category because they been making them since what 1997? in single socket/slot, dual, quad heck even hex sockets, candy cane sockets, fish hook, big sockets little... even a few laptops had them. point I'm getting at is post a photo of what you got lol

Slot sockets are large socket
Pin sockets are small plastic socket

The metal ones are both metal and I series
Metal sockets need a photo to know for sure
