Not to drag you on, but if it’s old enough have it scanned xrf: may be nickel or tin.
Both are worth more than copper.
Could be a low end white metal (which has a small bit of gold) which generally is in the high bid range per copper.
or a mid range 300 series stainless or a 1440 steel as well. Same range per in the $1.5-2.5 realm. It could be aluminium— if it is it will be an alloy for such a use and have a bit of tin in it. Or nickel.
Despite the coating You should be asking for aluminium drink can rates there not #2 or 3 clean.
If you have less than 10 lbs skip the fight. But cut about 1-2 inches and smash it flat with a hammer. Grab a high end magnet (like a hard drive mag) or your cobalt stick magnet (you *DO* have one right? They’re less than$10 for a set of 3-5 on amazon!). If there’s a movement you have a stainless or nickel containing alloy and less than $1 per pound is a slap in the face.
