I’m moving forward with my idea of a secondary YouTube option dedicated to recycling, scrapping, and repair/restoration

My first video on packing materials is done and being edited.
In the quick future I’ll be doing some basic breakdowns of junk.

I still intend to eventually make a paid Patreon thingy to have users help buy scrap items they want to see broken down and if can, fixed.


Here’s the thing.
This takes time. I have a few potential sponsors who will make this easier with a 15-30 second advert.
I don’t intend to charge for content as I said: I’ll leave the real stuff generally on a paid account buy subscriptions will be a penny and I’ll post credit links here on boardsort.
Mainly I want to keep the keyboard warriors (read: refiners) at bay. I will not discuss refining in my videos. I’ve done it. I know the truths. I’ve been honest here on the pros and cons and locked down other side discussions. Quick recap: yes you make more self refining IF you have hundreds of pounds AND extract more than gold. Silver, oils, cadmium, tin………….


My first video on packing and shipping should be posted in the next week or so and I’ll post the free link.

From there I’ll head into breakdowns and eventually repairs.

I have community backing! I have agreements that dump semi-sorted scrap by tonnage.
I’d like to return to what I did 10 years ago fixing this junk, moding, repurposing, and in the end, scrapping.

But I need side-help in financing stuff if it’s to work.
10 people at $1 I can buy a mega tablet and turn it into a clock, a photo display, a smart home controller, even a doom tablet.
100 people I can buy and break down and repair a spark server.

But honestly I’m happy with anyone paying a buck. I’ll go weekly to the thrift stores and buy junk. Tools, electronics, toys.

For those new to my history, I’m a Zero waist personality. I recycle 99.99999 percent. I produce less than one pound of waste per year. My family is probably at 98% in three countries and that’s including one that has major recycling issues. The majority of that waste is diapers (they like to … er never mind), and those themselves are organic and rapid biodegradable.


Yes, I’ll sell what I fix. And use it to buy more stuff or maybe take-our rice if I’m hungry.

This will be for YOU, but I can’t do it alone.

I like this idea! I'm new to this and while there's a lot of channels already that do content similar, I would feel more comfortable paying something for knowledge like this, as it directly relates to making money in a niche industry that I'm interested in from a trusted source. Please post whenever your video is first uploaded, I'm very interested. Just sent my first box in. I actually didn't know anything about e-waste recycling or boardsort until a few weeks ago, as I kept pulling old gold fingered ram out of this storage unit I bought on auction.

i'm one of them weiredo's who don't signup to goog, utube, farcebook, etc. penny no matter if can't log in.

I'm certainly interested to see what you are cooking up. But I gotta admit most escrap YouTube videos I've seen don't really interest me. I know there have been times when I watch a specific person and, for some reason or another, I decide I don't like them. Their voice, their style or something about them I just avoid them after one video. If I hear them again I move on immediately. Others seem to have some interesting info but it's baked into a lot of unnecessary video (like come on, this 5 minute time lapse should be 10-15 seconds max if you're not gonna talk). Dunno if that's particularly helpful for you but I hope you try a few different formats/styles to find your sweet spot.

Uhm...I think the things that always get me in escrap and wouldn't mind downloading your brain to answer (I could settle for YouTube :P) are, what exactly are things a, b, c, ...x, y, z; what are they made of; what's the easiest way to test when they could be multiple materials and exactly what type of business do I look for for potential buyers when there isn't a recycler for them. Granted I could probably research some of that myself if I can reliably answer the first two.

Anywho...just some thoughts, did you get the first video edit done?
