Hello there,

I pulled about 50 units of the same tiny board from a set of Fujitzu document scanners. These aren't the flatbed kind though. They look like a small printer. I noticed it sort of looks like an ic chip because of the legs but it's not all solid black. It has a glass on top with what looks like more golden portions inside. The legs are in a gold color. Can you help me identify these?

Thanks,
Natalia

Excellent!

Do you think I can remove the IC chip from the board and sell it separately as a gold legged IC chip?

Thank you again for all your help.

That’s the optical IC from a scanner. The board is peripheral

No you can’t remove it for a better price. I’ve tried. ;)
Too much glass to gold ratio.

Oh that's terrible news.... well I guess I learned something new today in regards to these IC chips.

Thanks again for your time.

Yep. The ones you can easily pop loose or already have removed you can cut the pins off.
I’ve done that too.

However this is a case where you’d be better off leaving them on.
