Dose the large board and smaller board need to stay connected?

Can I pull the 2 large iC's without down grading it?

Thanks

Lost,

I re-took pictures of these boards. Can you explain to me why theses are MB? I thought with the ram sockets they would be.

On the board with the 2 removable IC's can I pull those with out down grading the board?

The small board is the back of it.

Thanks

Yep; little one is telco
Rest of new is peripheral

Problem with making it to motherboard is you need to have:
Socket or soldered cpu
2 or more Ram expansions or soldered ram
2 or more internal expansions (sata, sas, ata)
1 or more Expansion (bus) card sockets (pci, buscard)
2 or more external ports or expansions (hdmi, usb)
Atleast one full fledged controller. (Bridge chip, memory controller)
There’s a few other things here there that may offset one item or another (like 80XX/386/486 era boards) where there’s lenience but generally all the above are needed.

Like telco motherboards are subjective outside of the basic industry standards of XT/AT and derivatives. There are the definites and the borderline ones.

Main boards from printers will generally fall into peripheral with only three main exceptions: ancient dot matrix and type setters, commercial/business class all in one lasers/copiers, and plotters/thermal printers; all normally having a small socket class motherboard.

Real old type setters will actually make telco from the massive volume of high value components as long as the power unit is a separate board. Think IBM and DEC units from the 70s/early 80s. Especially those electronic typewriters and word processors.

Ohh ok cool. Those are from a Cannon fax / printer. I generally stay away from printers unless they are part of a lot with other material I know I can make money on. Ive passed up several dot matrix printers in the past lol, now I have to re think that ;)

Under the right circumstances a dot matrix printer will pull up to 5 or $6 in scrap for current ones. More for older ones. But there are parts in working ones that get into triple digits.

The real money from a doa dot matrix printer is the aluminium shells in many, and font expansion cards.
The only printers I actively seek out are impact like type setters and dot matrix; and laser printers. Ram expansions in laser units command double digits.
Ink jet printers are literally a dime a dozen for it and not worth it. I pull the cartridges, remove the shell and trays (usually abs plastic) and if it’s easy access I’ll use my screw trimmer or bolt cutter to snap loose the primary drive motor.
Rest in whole goes in steel shred.
Laser printers I tend to take the time to test components but that’s a different thread.
Plotters can bring major money in scrap. Especially since they’re usually free and some places will PAY you to get rid of it. Anything other than a micro plotter (20lb ish desk unit) weighs 50lbs+, average around 125lbs, they make a mess no matter how careful you are, and they’re huge. If you pay me I’m game, if it’s free as long as you help get it in the truck it’s gone. But I won’t pay a penny for one. I can get $75-$100 in scrap alone for a plotter but it takes many hours to get them apart and as I said, they make a royal mess. Expect 4-6 hours to get one apart completely, about the same in post op cleanup.
(Yes I know cannon and Kodak etc make little “plotters” that are dye sublimation units, they’re overpriced junk and will fetch $2 in scrap if your lucky).
