Now just the other day (if im not mistaken) i was told this board was nothing but low telecom.

Can someone explain how this is not gold cap chip board?

If im only getting low grade telecom, id rather not even send it. I disagree.

I will be adding a few othere im not sure anout also.

Thanks for the info

Lost can probably explain better, but look at these: http://boardsort.com/cpg15x/thumbnails.php?album=30 and http://boardsort.com/cpg15x/thumbnails.php?album=31 and http://boardsort.com/cpg15x/thumbnails.php?album=32. Notice how the semiconductors have a "gold cap" on them? Your board does not have any gold cap semiconductors.

On the first one there’s no gold cap ICs. The yellow “ICs” aren’t gold. They’re a polymer plastic package made of polypropylene and Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or, pp-abs. The yellow pigment is simply for sorting.

More:

The first photo is peripheral. The flashing is not worth as much as YouTube et al claim. It’s no different from gold leaf paint you’d buy at the store, just with better quality control to keep out impurities. Just the same as gold leaf paint being a dollar more per gallon, gold flashing adds some few cents per layer. Neither of these are near the thickness found in high end server equipment.

Low telco. There’s too much non IC weight to make the jump on what’s actually on the board.

Peripheral as is. If you cut the pins off at the end of the gold you will have a midgrade board and gold pins. I’m not sure which way would pay better, but probably as a peripheral board.

One more final thought.
That first board is at the tipping point for low/high telco. A few months ago it would have been the straight telco class. My personal problem is there’s probably over a quarter pound of copper and iron (as ferrite). It otherwise has wonderful IC population and massive gold fingers.
[b]So I’m not sure. I’m going to forward this one to Chris for a definitive answer.[/]
This may survive gold finger card.

Chris says:
As is low telco
you knock the transformers off it’s high telco.
